DESCRIPTION:Session B: Elevating Youth Voice: Leadership and Impact in the MVP Youth Advisory Council – Alysa Mozak & Osmar Castro\, Patricia A. Tomson Center for Violence Prevention\, University of Northern Iowa \n Description: \nYoung people are not just participants in violence prevention efforts—they are powerful agents of change. This session explores how the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) program amplifies student voice through a near-peer model of primary violence prevention. Participants will examine how the MVP Youth Advisory Council elevates youth leadership\, strengthens prevention messaging\, and builds authentic partnerships between students and adults. The session will highlight practical strategies for cultivating youth voice as preventionists\, including steps for establishing and sustaining youth advisory councils. Attendees will leave with actionable tools to empower young leaders\, integrate student perspectives into prevention initiatives\, and create meaningful structures that support youth-driven change. \n

SUMMARY:Session A: Planting Seeds of Prevention: The Power of Early Childhood Education – MCEDSV
DESCRIPTION:Session A: Planting Seeds of Prevention: The Power of Early Childhood Education — MCEDSV \nDescription: \nThis interactive workshop will engage participants in a conversation around access to childcare and early education as an evidence-based strategy for the primary prevention of domestic violence. Access to affordable\, high quality early education and childcare to increase family financial security has the potential to impact a range of positive community health outcomes\, including the prevention of domestic violence. We will collaboratively explore challenges and discuss opportunities related to availability and cost of childcare and early education\, transportation limitations\, and outreach to underserved populations. We will disseminate materials for early education providers on trauma informed care and wellness.
