SUMMARY:New Service Provider Training - Traverse City
DESCRIPTION:New Service Provider Training is a hybrid training with two phases. Participants must complete phase one’s virtual sessions to participate in phase two’s in-person sessions. \n  \nIn phase one\, you will work independently and at your own pace in 10 virtual lessons hosted by the Michigan Victim Advocacy Network (MiVAN). MiVAN will provide training certificates for all virtual sessions you complete. \n  \nIn phase two\, training is delivered in-person over 2.5 days and facilitated by the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (MCEDSV). Dates to attend phase two are offered monthly in rotating locations around the state. \n  \nRegister and start training today! Once you register for in-person training\, you will receive the necessary information and instructions to access the virtual\, on-demand sessions. \n  \nWHO IS THIS TRAINING FOR?  \nStaff from agencies funded by the following grant sources are eligible to attend New Service Provider Training: CSU\, including (DVCS\, DVCSF\, DVCSM\, DVCSV\, and SDVS)\, SACS\, federally recognized tribes\, and TSH/TSHV. \n  \nNew Service Provider Training is designed for those with one year or less of experience in direct service advocacy roles. If you have previously received a certificate of completion for New Service Provider Training\, even if you have switched employment to a different agency\, re-registering is not recommended\, and MCEDSV may cancel registrations. If you are unsure or have questions about your ability to participate\, please email us before registering. \n  \nThe in-person training schedule is:  \nDay 1: 10 am – 6 pm  \nDay 2: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm  \nDay 3: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm \n  \nNeed to make hotel reservations?  \nDetails coming soon on how to secure a room with the MCEDSV’s discounted group block for this program (state of Michigan rate\, $98.00/night + applicable taxes and fees).  \n \n  \nABOUT CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEUs):  \nCEUs are offered for this training at no cost. This space is welcome to anyone providing training in the community on domestic violence\, sexual violence\, and human trafficking no matter their agency\, role\, or audience! \n  \nThis space is peer-led and facilitated by a team of MCEDSV staff and trainers from local DV/SA agencies. The facilitation team includes:  \n  \n\nMiranda Mizla\n\nEducation & Policy Advocate\, Turning Point Inc. \n  \nMiranda Mizla is an LMSW and proud alumna of Wayne State University. She works as an Education & Policy Advocate\, delivering age-appropriate presentations to students in middle and high schools on topics such as healthy relationships\, consent\, teen dating violence\, sexual violence\, human trafficking and more. Miranda also serves on Turning Points Agency Training Team\, providing presentations to the greater community\, organizations\, and new service providers.   \n  \nIn addition to her education work\, Miranda conducts policy analysis and advocates for legislative changes that address barriers survivors may face. She is committed to ensuring that survivor voices are being centered in the development of new laws and policies. She has previous public speaking experience from her time with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and spent most of her young adult years advocating for change in the child welfare system as a representative of the State of Michigan. \n  \n\nLaura Hoehner-Dane\n\nVolunteer\, Intern and Speaker’s Bureau Coordinator\, SafeHouse Center \n  \nFor over 18 years\, Laura Hoehner-Dane has focused on issues central to advocacy\, prevention\, and diverse populations in crisis.  Laura has worked in various roles in IPV & SA organizations and has worked with hundreds of survivors. Since 2016\, she has focused on volunteer and intern management and community engagement through education\, leading over 100+ presentations. In addition\, she is a Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) DV/SA Advocate Instructor\, Social Work Field Instructor for over six universities\, and Adjunct Social Work Professor at Wayne State University.   \n  \n\nAverett Robey \n\nProgram Director\, MCEDSV \n  \nAverett Robey is a leader\, preventionist\, advocate\, and trainer. His passion lies in transforming community and systems responses to address and prevent inequity and violence. This drive has led Averett to work on college campuses\, in domestic violence and sexual assault organizations\, coalitions\, and research teams as an advocate\, prevention education specialist\, program coordinator\, consultant\, sexual violence expert\, and program director.   \n  \nAverett is a Program Director at the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence\, where he collaborates on training and technical assistance to organizations serving survivors\, statewide prevention efforts\, and advocates for policy change.
