SUMMARY:Monthly Facilitator's Dialogue: Building Stronger Trainings Together
DESCRIPTION:A statewide meeting designed for anyone who facilitates training on domestic violence\, sexual violence\, or human trafficking. Connect across organizations and audiences to share lessons learned\, develop stronger trainings\, further your facilitation skills\, and sustain each other in this work. \n  \nEvery month we will explore a theme to guide conversation and strengthen our skills. This space is welcome to anyone providing training in the community on domestic violence\, sexual violence\, and human trafficking no matter their agency\, role\, or audience! \n  \nThis space is peer-led and facilitated by a team of MCEDSV staff and trainers from local DV/SA agencies. The facilitation team includes:  \n  \n\nMiranda Mizla\n\nEducation & Policy Advocate\, Turning Point Inc. \n  \nMiranda Mizla is an LMSW and proud alumna of Wayne State University. She works as an Education & Policy Advocate\, delivering age-appropriate presentations to students in middle and high schools on topics such as healthy relationships\, consent\, teen dating violence\, sexual violence\, human trafficking and more. Miranda also serves on Turning Points Agency Training Team\, providing presentations to the greater community\, organizations\, and new service providers.   \n  \nIn addition to her education work\, Miranda conducts policy analysis and advocates for legislative changes that address barriers survivors may face. She is committed to ensuring that survivor voices are being centered in the development of new laws and policies. She has previous public speaking experience from her time with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and spent most of her young adult years advocating for change in the child welfare system as a representative of the State of Michigan. \n  \n\nLaura Hoehner-Dane\n\nVolunteer\, Intern and Speaker’s Bureau Coordinator\, SafeHouse Center \n  \nFor over 18 years\, Laura Hoehner-Dane has focused on issues central to advocacy\, prevention\, and diverse populations in crisis.  Laura has worked in various roles in IPV & SA organizations and has worked with hundreds of survivors. Since 2016\, she has focused on volunteer and intern management and community engagement through education\, leading over 100+ presentations. In addition\, she is a Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) DV/SA Advocate Instructor\, Social Work Field Instructor for over six universities\, and Adjunct Social Work Professor at Wayne State University.   \n  \n\nAverett Robey \n\nProgram Director\, MCEDSV \n  \nAverett Robey is a leader\, preventionist\, advocate\, and trainer. His passion lies in transforming community and systems responses to address and prevent inequity and violence. This drive has led Averett to work on college campuses\, in domestic violence and sexual assault organizations\, coalitions\, and research teams as an advocate\, prevention education specialist\, program coordinator\, consultant\, sexual violence expert\, and program director.   \n  \nAverett is a Program Director at the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence\, where he collaborates on training and technical assistance to organizations serving survivors\, statewide prevention efforts\, and advocates for policy change. Averett strives to create community investment and collaboration to support survivors and address injustice and oppression at its root to prevent violence before it begins.   \n  \n\nAmanda Barratt\n\n      Associate Director\, MCEDSV \n  \nAmanda Barratt\, she/her/hers\, is the Associate Director for the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. As Michigan’s catalyst for creating empowered and transformed communities\, MCEDSV’s mission is to develop and promote comprehensive efforts aimed at eliminating all forms of domestic violence\, sexual violence\, and human trafficking. Amanda is a sex therapist and sexual health educator and envisions communities where people can live free from violence and experience delight and pleasure. Amanda is passionate about community building\, violence prevention\, and sexual health education & development. \n
