Amicus Curiae/Friend of the Court Briefs

An Amicus Curiae, or “Friend of the Court” brief is a court document filed by an organization who is not participating in the litigation but has a strong interest in the outcome of the case. MCEDSV’s attorneys in the Survivor Law Clinic file or sign on to briefs filed with the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Michigan Supreme Court, and in federal cases, where the outcome is likely to impact survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking.
